Come rain or shine, the Berlin Lions Music Festival will be the best show in town. This years festival will feature music that everyone will enjoy. Thousands will turn out for a day filled with great food and entertainment.
The festival is sponsored by the Berlin Lions Club and it's many sponsors. Lions members from the Berlin Lions Club along with Lions from all over Connecticut gather together to provide a well kept venue and great food and snacks. This year the event will be held to benefit the Connecticut Lions Low Vision Center and Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.
The Low Vision Center is located in New Britain, CT. The center's goal is to maintain or enhance the quality of life for people experiencing the emotional trauma of newly diagnosed blindness or low vision. Most of their clients are over age 65 and affected by uncorrectable vision loss such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetes, and blindness related to stroke. The Low Vision Center provides therapy, referrals, devices and support to help these people maintain their dignity and independence.
The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump - each day, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.
