A few words about LEADERSHIP

in our District

Most Lions believe that "Leadership" in a Lions District means filling the position of District Governor.  That is certainly the ultimate leadership position in the District, but it is by no means the only opportunity for leadership our District offers.

One of the first leadership positions a new Lion may find him or herself in is the chairmanship of a committee within the club.  That position is the very basis of the leadership spiral within our association and is the launching pad for the rise of all Lion leaders.  From Committee Chair to Director to Tail Twister to Lion Tamer to Club Officer to Club President to Cabinet Chair to Zone Chair to Vice Governor to Governor and beyond, the leadership opportunities are many, varied and open to all.  Former President Jimmey Carter, (a Lion Past District Governor from Georgia) in his keynote address to a Lions International Convention stated, "It is a long way from Tail Twister to President of the United States".  He clearly understood what the phrase "leadership opportunities" meant.

Don't think for a moment that you will be climbing this dizzying ladder alone.  Training programs are available all along the way, and we have recently come to realize that the local training offered in Multiple District 23 is "head and shoulders" above that of most other areas of the Lions world.  Think about how you can avail yourself of this training and what the development of your personal leadership skills can mean to your personal and Lionistic future.  If you are interested, you can find a further discussion of the pathway leading to the office of District Governor on the Multiple District website www.ctlions.org  Click on the link to "Your Roll in Leadership as a Future District Governor".

From time to time, this page will post leadership training opportunities at the District, Multiple District, New England and International levels.  You are all the future leaders of our association.  Set your personal leadership goals and look here for help in acheiving those goals.

PCC Alan Daninhirsch, Leadership Development Chairman
